Rathbone Investment Management (Rathbones) announces the appointment of David Coombs who joins to reinforce its expertise in absolute return and optimised risk funds together with multi-asset portfolios for private clients.
David joins from Baring Asset Management where he was head of multi-manager investments and the manager of the Baring range of multi-manager funds, including the multi-asset Baring Reduced Risk, Optimum Risk and Extended Risk Funds, and the Baring Multi-Manager Property Fund. The Extended Risk and Property Funds were top quartile in their S&P Micropal universes during his tenure.
“We currently have £2 billion invested on behalf of private investors and charities in third party funds and alternative investment products. David has developed a consistent track record in the management of unconstrained solutions and low volatility products, and his experience will undoubtedly deepen our investment offering in alternatives and collectives generally,” commented Rathbones director Richard Smeeton. “David will also be supporting the management of risk-adjusted funds for our Jersey-based offshore investment management operations.”
“Rathbones’ commitment and enthusiasm for developing further their capabilities in the absolute return arena were significant attractions for me. An intelligently diversified portfolio over the medium to longer-term can help to reduce the participation in equity market volatility without sacrificing growth,” said David Coombs.
