Rathbone Investment Management Limited appoints new investment director

Released: 17 Jan 2006

Rathbone Investment Management (Rathbones) today announces the appointment of James Maltin as an investment director responsible for managing private client portfolios.

James joins Rathbones following five years with HSBC Investments, where he headed up the investment trust committee, taking responsibility for all investment company recommendations.  In addition, he managed private client portfolios and trust companies, both in the UK and offshore.  Prior to this, he spent two years advising on investments at Britannic Assurance plc.

Commenting, Richard Lanyon, head of investment management, Rathbone Investment Management Limited said, “We are very pleased to welcome James to the team here at Rathbones.  He brings with him seven years of industry expertise and we look forward to his contribution to our dedicated and highly professional team of private client managers.  James’s appointment is another step in our continuing commitment to providing the highest possible level of client service.”

James added, “I am thrilled to be joining Rathbones, particularly at this time of corporate expansion following the recent acquisition of the UK private banking arm of Dexia.  I very much look forward to playing my part in the development of a business which has so successfully incorporated the traditional service values of the private client manager into an approach to investment management that is both tailored and dynamic.”
