New Finance Director for Rathbone Brothers Plc

Released: 06 Jul 2004

Rathbone Brothers Plc, the listed investment management company, today announced that Sue Desborough, currently Group Financial Controller, will become Finance Director of the Group with effect from 1 October 2004.

Sue succeeds Andy Pomfret, who becomes Chief Executive of Rathbones on 1 October 2004 following the retirement of Roy Morris on that date.

Mark Powell, Chairman, commented: “As a result of an extensive search conducted for us by one of the top executive search companies, we concluded that the best candidate for the job was in fact an internal one. Sue Desborough has made a significant contribution since joining the company, has an extremely strong grasp of the business fundamentals and will, the Board is confident, make an excellent contribution in this role going forward.”

Sue Desborough, 44, joined Rathbones in November 2000 from Kleinwort Benson where she was Head of Financial and Regulatory Reporting. She qualified as a Chartered Accountant with Deloitte Haskins & Sells.
