Rathbone Brothers Plc, the investment management company with over £5 billion discretionary funds under management, today announced the appointment of two new non-executive directors. Caroline Burton and James Barclay will take up their positions on 1 November 2003. At the end of the year Mark Leather and William Rathbone will retire from the board.
Caroline Burton is a highly experienced figure within the asset management industry. She spent 26 years with Guardian Royal Exchange Plc where she was Executive Director in charge of investments from 1990 until 1999. She was also a director of The Scottish Metropolitan Property Plc until June 2000. Currently, she is a member of the Service Authority for the National Crime Squad and National Criminal Intelligence Service. She is a non-executive director of TR Property Investment Trust Plc.
James Barclay has many years experience in the financial services and banking sector. As Chairman and Chief Executive of Cater Allen Holdings Plc, he was responsible for creating a market leader that was ultimately sold to Abbey National in 1998. Currently, he is non-executive Chairman of M&G Equity Investment Trust. He also acts as an adviser to the UK Debt Management Office and is Chairman of its Audit Committee.

Following Mark Leather’s retirement as Director responsible for Rathbones’ investment activities in Liverpool, Andrew Morris will take over this role.
