Rathbone Unit Trust Management Limited recognised as UK’s Best Equity Fund Management Group

Released: 22 May 2002

- Leading global independent research company Lipper, finds Rathbones UK’s number one -

London, 22nd May 2002: Rathbone Unit Trust Management Limited was awarded the Lipper Prize for Best UK Equity Fund Management Group at the Fund Strategy Awards on 17 May 2002.

Rathbone Unit Trust Management – which offers UK investors 10 funds including the recently launched Ethical Bond Fund – beat 62 other fund providers to the award.

Leading fund research company, Lipper used its own consistent return methodology score to calculate each company’s best performing funds (within their specific criteria) over a three year period. These scores were then averaged out for each fund house to give an overall company result and ranking.

Managing Director Peter Pearson Lund said: “This award, against distinguished competition, distinctly and uniquely proves the strength of Rathbones’ offering and the strength of our management team. Over the coming year we will look to continue to provide strong investment returns.”

Lipper’s UK head of Research Brian Harvey said: “Lipper, with its UK and Global service, is uniquely placed to assist the financial services industry in making sound investment decisions. Quality investment management needs to be recognised and this is what our award does.”

The Fund Strategy award is the latest in a number of accolades for Rathbones. On 13 March 2002 Standard & Poor’s ranked Rathbone Unit Trust Management as the Best Smaller Unit Trust company over five years while the Rathbone Smaller Companies Fund was awarded best fund in its sector for the third year running.
